Jack Gibbons plays Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue
Jack Gibbons plays his famous note-for-note recreation of Gershwin's legendary 4-handed 1925 piano-roll recording of the Rhapsody in Blue. The video was recorded live in concert in 2007. "Jack Gibbons is able to reproduce Gershwin as Gershwin performed, in a remarkable recreation of Gershwin's unique keyboard style. Hearing Jack Gibbons perform is like being at a Gershwin party, in a sense like being with Gershwin" (Edward Jablonski, biographer of George Gershwin, New York 1998) For more informa...

George Gershwin guest appearance on The Fleischmann's Yeast Hour - Shiffy 48
This is an excerpt from NBCs Fleischmanns Yeast Hour of November 10, 1932. It includes scripted dialog between the host, Rudy Vallee and the guest, George Gershwin. The musical selections are Fascinatin Rhythm, I Got Rhythm and the Second Prelude for Piano. I transferred this circa 1972 to 15 ips tape directly from four sides of two uncoated aluminum disks recorded @ 78.26 rpm. I digitized and reprocessed it circa 5 - 10 years ago...

Entertainment and Historical Dialogue Recordings 1897 - 1928 - Phil Binstead
These recordings are transcribed from my collection of LP's release dates cover a period of 40 years. The music and dialogue tracks listed represent a glimpse into an era long vanished when records, radio, automobiles, flight and discovery of ancient tombs were all in their infancy. Songs were written about automobiles, radio was fast becoming the first means of mass communication, Planes were evolving into weapons of war and brave individuals flew into the history books for long flights across ...

Biography in Sound - WA4CZD
Biography in Sound was an hour-long documentary radio program that was produced and broadcast in the 1950s. It's one of the best examples of radio excellence - the production is exemplary and I find every episode to be compelling. It's one of my favorites; I don't understand why it isn't more well known! Each episode featured multiple guests, who often were peers or friends of the person who was the featured subject...
